400;\">Uno degli obiettivi specifici del progetto Sea Marvel \u00e8 quello di fornire informazioni essenziali riguardanti le specie indicatrici di ecosistemi vulnerabili all\u2019interno dei 6 siti Natura 2000 del progetto, nonch\u00e9 su specie aliene e rifiuti plastici che possono mettere a rischio la loro biodiversit\u00e0, che siano di supporto per una valutazione completa e integrativa utile ad intraprendere azioni di tutela in questi siti e nelle rispettive zone di pesca. Per tale motivo, la raccolta dati sulle specie presenti, sulla loro abbondanza, predominanza o rarit\u00e0, e la misura del grado di degradazione dell&#8217;habitat causato dalla presenza di rifiuti di plastica, attrezzi da pesca abbandonati, traffico marittimo, e di specie aliene \u00e8 fondamentale per offrire tale supporto.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dall\u2019avvio del progetto Sea Marvel ad oggi,\u00a0<\/span>i ricercatori dell\u2019Universit\u00e0 di Catania hanno svolto\u00a0<b>oltre 100<\/b><b> survey scientifici in mare<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, imbarcandosi sia su imbarcazioni scientifiche nel golfo di Catania, che su traghetti passeggeri e navi cargo lungo le rotte <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Catania \u2013 Malta, Porto Empedocle \u2013 Lampedusa, e Trapani \u2013 Pantelleria. Tra i dati oggetto dei monitoraggi, importanti informazioni sono state raccolte in merito al traffico navale, e sulla presenza di rifiuti galleggianti, macrofauna e specie vulnerabili come cetacei e tartarughe.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Un contributo fondamentale alla raccolta dati \u00e8 stato fornito anche da una comunit\u00e0 di \u201cSentinelle del Mare\u201d composta da 50 pescatori artigianali professionali attivi nelle aree di Milazzo, Catania, e Isole Pelagie, che hanno regolarmente inviato segnalazioni circa la presenza di rifiuti galleggianti, avifauna, pesci, cetacei e tartarughe all\u2019interno delle loro aree di pesca, ma anche sulle catture di di specie marine rare o aliene. Ad oggi abbiamo ricevuto <\/span><strong>pi\u00f9 di 300 loro segnalazioni!<\/strong><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Di seguito vi mostriamo i primi risultati ottenuti monitorando circa <\/span><strong>1.412.533 ettari <\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>di superficie marina<\/strong>.
