Giuliana Pellegrino

Giuliana Pellegrino is a certified MMO. She has been involved in research focusing on the population and distribution of cetaceans in the Mediterranean since 2004. Since 2010 she collaborates and coordinates research groups within the “FLT Med Net” project. She takes part to the sea monitoring activities of University of Catania within the Sea Marvel project as observer.

Giuliana Pellegrino is a certified MMO. She has collaborated with several associations, focusing on studies about the distribution and population dynamics of cetaceans and sea turtles in the Gulf of Catania, the Ionian Sea, the central-southern Tyrrhenian Sea and in the Strait of Sicily.
She has taken part to several research campaigns, collaborated to the project Medsealitter on the development of protocols to protect biodiversity from marine litter and to the “Fixed Line Transect Mediterranean Monitoring Network” coordinated by ISPRA.
She takes part to the sea monitoring activities of University of Catania and manages the data upload for the Sea Marvel project. The data collection protocols that she applies concern the presence and distribution of vulnerable species (such as cetaceans, sea turtles, avifauna and other marine megafauna), marine litter, naval traffic and fishing activities.
