On 21 May 2021, an online meeting was held – ahead of the International Biodiversity Day of 22 May 2021. The aim was of presenting the Sea Marvel project to the associated Partners, sharing the objectives of the project and analyzing its structure to identify each organization’s representatives and the mission of each one of them.
During the meeting – moderated by prof. Iuri Peri, scientific director – all the partners attended to introduce themselves, including LIFE, ISPRA, AMP Ciclopi, AMP Pelagie, the Ministries of the Environment, the Ministries for Economic Development, the Ministry of Education of Malta, the Environment Department of the Municipality of Catania, R.N.O. Simeto Oasis. In addition, the project representatives, such as Prof. Adriana Vella, project manager in Malta and coordinator of research activities, Clara Monaco of the University of Catania, Noel Vella of the University of Malta, reaffirmed everyone’s responsibility towards the several threats to the environment and to the conservation of biodiversity in shared territorial waters. They also discussed the innovative aspects of the project and the objectives and goals of the areas under study.
