Carla Tumino

Born in 1996, she earned a master’s degree in Ecobiology with a marine course of studies at the University of Rome La Sapienza. She is currently a research fellow of the Sea Marvel project in the context of the “Monitoring and data processing on marine resources and threats to biodiversity in the Sicily-Malta cross-border area”.

Born in Ragusa in 1996, she first earned a bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences, and then a master’s degree in Ecobiology with a marine course of studies, at the University of Rome La Sapienza. The thesis was carried out in the context of bioacoustics applied to the study of the vocalizations of cetaceans, in particular of bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus), that are present along the Lazio coast. She is a licensed biologist and registered with the Order. She has the Advanced level for recreational scuba diving. She is currently a research fellow for the Sea Marvel project as part of the “Monitoring and processing of data on marine resources and threats to biodiversity in the Sicily-Malta cross-border area”, dealing in particular with marine monitoring in the Strait of Sicily, the organization of the various databases, and with subsequent analysis and application of the GIS.
