SEA MARVEL School Challenges in Sicily
Marine Biodiversity Conservation
Challenge among the schools of Milazzo, Giarre andLampedusa
We care about Biodiversity: let’s protect it!
The schools from Milazzo, Giarre and Lampedusa, will participate in the online challenge, via ZOOM, during the morning of a school day.
The winning class will be offered an experience of whale watching, looking for cetaceans and all other kinds of marine species populating the unique biodiversity of Sicily’s waters.
All the works drafted by the students during the challenge will be evaluated by a jury, which will then announce the winning class.
All the costs related to the whale watching activity and the guided tour will be borne by SEA MARVEL. The dates will be decided afterward with the winning school.
The online challenge includes:
an introductory speech by the organizers who will describe how to participate
a 5-minute speech by 2 representatives for each participating class to describe the natural environment of their territory
the creation of a descriptive text on biodiversity
the answers to quizes on topics related to biodiversity
the creation of an action plan to raise awareness among the citizens on the rich biodiversity of the area
The project operators will be involved during the whole duration of the challenge in order to provide guidance and scientific support.
